[NEWS] ‘Korea’s Girlgroup’ SNSD Is On The Latest Issue of Ceci

‘Korea’s Girlgroup’ So Nyeo Shi Dae is on the latest issue of fashion magazine Ceci.

They recently did the photoshoot for this August issue of Ceci. They are featured as one of the top stars in Korea in comemoration of Ceci’s 15th anniversary.

And what is special is that they are the first artistes to be featured as the top star for the 15th anniversary special celebration. The concept to the photo is commemoration party for the girls’ for their 2nd year anniversary after debut (they debuted in 2007.08.05).

[NEWS] Big Bang SeungRi Passed His Qualification Examination!

It has been known that Big Bang SeungRi has passed his qualification examination in May.

After quitting from high school, SeungRi has applied to take the examination and has passed it in May.

A YG representative said, “SeungRi has passed his qualification test in May.” on 16th July. SeungRi will be sitting for his SAT test this year too. Debuting as member of Big Bang, SeungRi has voluntarily pull out of high school to focus on the group’s activity.

Meanwhile, Big Bang is currently promoting in Japan and their song ‘Gara Gara Go’ is doing very well there going up to the #5 position on Japan Oricon chart.

[NEWS] Big Bang’s Consecutive 2nd on Oricon Weekly Chart

Big Bang while in Japan, with their second single ‘Gara Gara GO!’ is on the Oricon Weekly Chart top 5. Big Bang has had two consecutive singles on the Oricon Weekly chart since their major debut from the first week. In the top 5 favorite notched songs, one cannot believe it, this is now a rookie explosiveness.

Big Bang (G-Dragon, TOP, Taeyang, Daesung, Seungri), the ‘Gara Gara GO!’ single was release during last eight days and already gained 3rd place and has stayed till the end of July 20th with a steady weekly sales chart. And Big Bang’s first single ‘My Heaven’ and the sustained popularity has been for weeks on the chart at #20. Launched last June 24 ‘My Heaven’, which debuted in the top four and after went up to number two to rise up on top of the chart three weeks on the first week.

Big Bang’s singles released all went on the Oricon Weekly Chart as the top 3. The two singles released caused thousands of fans to gather to celebrate, the event proved the popularity of Big Bang in Japan.

Meanwhile, on the July 20th weekly chart Johnny’s held a place of two of the units while TegoMasu and Japan’s sexy Koda was ranked #3.

[NEWS] Rain to Return With Asian Tour in August

Singer and actor Rain will wipe away the summer heat with his upcoming Asian tour “Legend of Rain” this August.
Starting in Japan, the concert will tour China and Southeast Asia, where the 27-year-old singer is popular, according to the singer’s agency J.Tune Entertainment.

“(The title) shows his determination to become a legendary icon representing this period,” the agency said through a press release.

The event has been in preparation ever since Rain’s fifth album release, which was a year ago, and the singer is planning to show his multiple talents as an entertainer by participating in the overall concert planning.

“Legend of Rain” is his first tour in two years, and the agency stressed that they are planning a grand event to not only wow Asian fans, but fans around the world as well.

An agency official added that the event was to originally to visit more countries, but was downsized due to the promotion tour for the singer’s upcoming film “Ninja Assassin.” The movie is slated for release on Sept. 25.

Rain is planning to meet fans from regions he has never been to, and was quoted as saying that he hoped to meet as many fans possible through the concert. Organizers added that a Seoul concert will take time to confirm.

Meanwhile, Rain is holding a special fan meeting on July 26 at Kyung Hee University to meet fans prior to the concert.

[NEWS] Rain Named PR Ambassador for Korean Food

Singer Rain has been named PR ambassador for Korean food. The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries appointed Rain on July 13 at the Gwacheon Government Complex. Over the next year, Rain will appear in video materials publicizing Korean cuisine and attend major events related to Korean food.

Rain said, “To me, Korean food is like a mother and my primary instinct. While holding overseas concert tours and filming movies, I always wished that Korean food was more competitive so that more people could enjoy it. I’m thankful for this opportunity to publicize it.” The singer added, “Chinese and Japanese cuisines are very popular abroad compared to Korean cuisine. I want to publicize the health benefits of Korean food so that people all over the world can enjoy kimchi and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes).”

Rain says his favorite Korean dish is tteokbokki, which he said made a perfect snack that he used to enjoy while at school.

[NEWS] SNSD and Super Junior to Model for Clothing Brand ‘SPAO’

“If there’s ZARA for Spain, UNIQLO for Japan and GAP for America, then there is SPAO for Korea.”

Fashion business group E-Land announced its challenge with Japan’s UNIQLO with the launch of the global SPA brand “SPAO”. Produced based on SPA product plans, it’s the first time that a domestic fashion company is using the method of direct distribution and announcing a brand like “Global SPA”. E-Land’s “SPAO” was created by adding the english initial letter “O” (from “Original, OK, Oasis”) to “SPA”.

E-Land’s vice president Park Seungkyung said at a press conference on the 15th: “Fast planning, global sourcing and by concentrating in the gained capabilities of E-Land for the last 30 years, we’ve prepared “SPAO” since 2006. The first store with a space of 3300 m^2 will open in Seoul Myeongdong in October.” The goal is to achieve sales of 15,000,000,000 won with 5 stores this year and 1,000,000,000,000 won with 100 stores in 2012.

“SPAO” represents the “Korean UNIQLO”. With the same direct manufacturing method like UNIQLO does with the basic style, it maintains the quality and the prize level will be 20% cheaper compared to UNIQLO with prizes like 9900 won for a T-shirt, 25900 won for a shirt, 29900 won for a sweater, denim. Furthermore, designs and color tones matching Korean’s figure were emphasized and the strategy is to cover all the age groups with 11 separate categories, from children to middle age.

[NEWS] 2PM on Meeting Thai PM and Themselves

With their upbeat personalities and tunes, 2PM has easily made its way into K-pop mainstream. They sing, they dance and they mean what they’re doing.

Jaebeom, Nichkhun, Junsu, Taecyeon, Junho, Wooyoung and Chansung passed JYP Entertainment’s auditions at different times, but they are later grouped together to form 2PM.

Debut single 10 Out of 10 came out in September while the second single Again & Again shot to No. 1 within weeks upon its release. The latest single, Hate You, which was released a few weeks ago, is currently enjoying a top spot in the music charts; the full album is in the work.

‘Outlook’ caught up with 2PM during their visit to Thailand. The three English speaking members Jaebeom, Taecyeon and Nichkhun – who all grew up outside Korea – gave us a perfect American-English interview.

You got to meet our prime minister for the ‘I Love Thailand’ campaign … how was the experience?

JAEBEOM: It was a really big honour for us. This is only our second time in thailand, and we got to meet the PM! Personally, it was my first time meeting someone that big … Very honoured.

How will you be supporting the campaign?

NICHKHUN: We each get a “I Love Thailand” pin and T-shirt, so we’ll be wearing them and spreading the good word about Thailand all around.

[NEWS] Tohoshinki to Meet Korean Fans With 28th Single

S.M.Entertainment which DBSK belongs to has announced that the single “Stand By U” will be released in Korea on the 16th (Which is today!). The single had already been released for 2 weeks in Japan.

This single has already sold 180,000 pieces one week after its release, and is placed number 2 on the Oricon Charts. The company is going to release the CD and the CD+DVD versions and hope that this new single will gain good response from the Korean fans.

The song “Stand By U” is a heart-warming and romantic song, and it is well-liked by many people thus made the choice as the theme song for BEETV’s drama “Sweet Room”. The single also contains a song with beautiful lyrics that expresses the feelings to lovers/couples. This CD will also have Tohoshinki’s 7th Japanese single, “Sky” so there will be a total of 3 songs.

The CD version has specially inserted a remix version of “Stand By U”, and the CD+DVD version will include the music video.

On the other hand, Tohoshinki is going to participate in Summer A-Nation 09 on the 1st of August, where it gathers all the popular Japanese stars together.
