[NEWS] Rain Plans Drama Role Next

Earlier this summer, superstar singer-actor Rain alluded to the possibility of taking another movie or television project, and now he has announced his decision to make his acting return with a drama.

He’s currently engaged in singer-ly activities, kicking off his 2009 Asia Tour (“Legend of Rainism”) on August 29 at Japan’s Saitama Super Arena. It was at a press conference at that event that he spoke of his drama comeback plans. Rain didn’t get into the details, saying merely, “It will have an entirely different feel from the movie Ninja Assassin.”

Speaking of which, Ninja Assassin will be released in theaters in late November. As for the concert tour, Rain follows the Japan opener with performances in China, Seoul, and Southeast Asia. Ever the overachiever, he added, “If possible, I’ll try for Europe and America as well.”

I know he’s been busy working on his two Hollywood films (Ninja Assassin and Speed Racer), but it still feels to me like he’s been out of the acting spotlight for a really long time. I like him best in kdramas, and I’ll be looking forward to seeing him on television again. I get the sense that many people write him off from his uncomplicated spoiled-superstar character in Full House, but while it is his most well-known (and probably most-watched) role, it was also one of his earlier projects and he’s grown in the five years since that drama. (Take, for instance, his role with Im Soo-jung in Park Chan-wook’s eccentric psych-ward love story, I’m a Cyborg But It’s Okay.)

[NEWS] Yunho’s Growing Pains, “Challenging Myself To Act Was Like Heading To The Ground”

TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho (Real name Jung Yunho), who is at the brink of debuting as an actor, compared his debut production to ‘growing pains’.

U-Know Yunho will be taking on acting for the first time in MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Heading to the Ground’ that first airs this coming September.

One staff member on site said, “Because Yunho gets along with the staff really well and is on a hyung(older brother)-nuna(older sister)-donsaeng(younger brother or sister) basis with us, we often tend to forget that he’s an Asia Hallyu Star. We only remember that fact when we see the fans cheering for him.”

2NE1 had a special stage of their own for ‘I Don’t Care’, and let’s just say, the girls really switched it up!

With an acoustic live band and Caribbean feel, this remix is just OOZING with awesome. I love the Jason Mraz-esque style remix, it really shows a different side of these girls. People talk about 2NE1 being a one-trick pony of electronic pop, but this stage really shows off both their versatility and vocal talent. Not only do the girls really pull off the slower-tempo, reggae remix with their laidback appearances and vibratos, but they added personal flavor and rocked it like it was the original version all along. 2NE1 can really carry a performance with their stage presence; even though they aren’t dancing, all four girls seem to be really enjoying themselves. Yes, I’m gushing – but seriously, for a one-stage remix, this is impressive for a girl group.

To cheer for Big Bang G-Dragon’s first solo stage, YG Entertainment’s celebrities have come out on a large scale.

On the morning of the 30th, G-Dragon’s SBS “Inkigayo” recording was filmed at the Seoul Gangseo-gu Deungchon-dong SBS Public Hall.

At the scene of this day, Big Bang’s Taeyang, Uhm Jung Hwa, 1Tym’s Danny, Oh Jin Hwan, Teddy, etc., came and cheered for G-Dragon’s first solo stage.

Taeyang, who last year successfully showed a solo stage with “Look Only At Me,” “Prayer,” etc., said, “Right now, G-Dragon is probably very nervous. But, he always does well, so I’m not worried about him.”

Uhm Jung Hwa, as expected, said, “Now, G-Dragon has the best opportunity. I would like it if he was able to enjoy this greatest chance.”

Singer Baek Ji Young has revealed her shock about not receiving any bad comments or bashes from fans for working with 2PM member TaekYeon for a sexy collaboration of ‘My Ear’s Candy’ recently.

She was on KBS Star Golden Bell aired on 29th August where she revealed the responses of fans of TaekYeon.

She was expecting bashes and hate comments from fans since she not only did a featuring with TaekYeon on the song, they also did various sexy dance moves on stage while performing it.

She said, “I expected bashes from TaekYeons’ fans but instead I get requests from fans to take good care of their oppa. They thought of me like a mother.”

TVXQ sings “I got you~ooo, Under my skin,” and dances. When the buttons on the shirts that cling onto their bodies cannot handle their powerful moves and burst, U-Know Yunho’s well-developed and chiseled pectoral muscles are shown. Fans from all over Korea, who may have had ill feelings towards the long stretch of Japanese activities, act as though the group had never left and stare at their TV and even go up to the TV screen and stroke it. I’m talking about the comeback stage of that happened after the album’s release last December. Fans found something a little odd about TVXQ during this stage. Although the five members’ faces were the same, it was as though their faces had been stuck on someone else’s body. This was because of their ‘muscles’.

TVXQ’s thin and muscular bodies are completely different from SM Entertainment’s preceding idol groups. The direction that the members of TVXQ are headed is being influenced by the Japanese activities they have been carefully and diligently doing. In Japan these days, their is a ‘Hosomacho’ or ‘thin muscle’ trend blazing through the nation. The biggest reason for this trend is because the majority of young Japanese women prefers the thin muscled hosomacho look over the heavily muscled gorimacho (gorilla macho) look.

[NEWS] FT Island, KARA and Other Popular Singers for New Campaign on SBS Inkigayo

5 singer groups – FT Island, KARA and others will be filming a video for SBS Inkigayo for an awareness campaign of the use of public transportation.

This campaign is also called ‘Blue Sky, Clear City together with Public Transportation’. An FT Island version of the campaign video will be shown on 30th August first, followed by KARA’s on 6th September. And the videos by other singers will be shown each week on the show until 27th September.

For FT Island’s version of the campaign video, the boys will be shown taking the 9th line on the subway singing to the campaign song. While KARA members will be shown taking the public transportation bus.

Oher singers involved for this campaign are Baek Ji Young and ShinDong.
