[INFO] Mnet Unveils MAMA – Full Nominee List

From 2009, Mnet annual music event MKMF will be changed to Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).

A live program took place on 23rd October in Seoul Tower and the idea of the new music awards ceremony was revealed. Previously on 16th October, the note “This year there will be no MKMF’ was posted on Mnet’s official homepage, the change of the music ceremony was to give it a new transformation as mentioned by Mnet.

[NEWS] YounHa to Release 9th Single Album in Korea and Japan

Singer YounHa will release her 9th single album simultaneously in Korea and Japan.

Her 9th Japanese single ‘Girl’ will be released on 22nd July both in Korea and Japan online and offline. And this is the first time she is doing a release both in Korea and Japan.

This is because she wants to be able focus on both Korea and Japan music markets. In this single, YounHa has done the lyrics to 2 songs, and also composed one of the songs inside, as a young singer songwriter.

In this album, the title song ‘Girl’ is a song which YounHa has worked with producer JIN with.

[NEWS] YounHa is #1 for Female Solo Singer Album Sales – 20K Album Sales for 3rd Album

YounHa has came in #1 for female solo singer album sales for the first half of 2009 with a total of 17,000 copies of her 3rd album Part. A ‘Peace, Love & Ice Cream’ acoording to HanTeo chart.

And as of 20th May, her album sales has already breakthrough 20,000 copies. YounHa came back with this 3rd album, promoting the title songs ‘1,2,3′ and ‘Peace, Love & Ice Cream’ showing a different music styles as compared to the other singers.

YounHa has been said to be a ’steady seller’. Her 1st album ‘Good Day for Confession’ and 2nd album ‘Someday’ has both sold over 7oK and 52K copies. And for her 3rd album, it is said that the album sales will continue to increase.

Meanwhile, YounHa will release her 9th Japanese single ‘Girl’ on 22nd July. For this single she will also be have producer of group ‘ GReeeeN‘ JIN working on it. Much anticipation for that.

[NEWS] Youn-ha Moves Forward With Passion for Music

With short curly hair, bright eye makeup and attire, it would be easy to mistake Youn-ha as another colorful singer with a pretty face and voice.

But the 21-year-old is a driven artist for whom music is the number one priority and will continue to be so.

“Whenever I work on an album, I put all of my energy into it. You can say that I have put 100 percent of me in this album,” Youn-ha told The Korea Times during an interview in the singer’s van last week.

[NEWS] Younha Sings R&B Version of ‘Gee’

Singer YounHa was on MBC ‘Music Vacation Lalala’ as the first guest appearance for its special edition. And on the show she performed with an acoustic band.

One of the performance highlights is her performance of So Nyeo Shi Dae’s ‘Gee’ R&B version in her own style. YounHa also sang Lee Sora’s ‘Proposal’ with her own feel on the show.

As in how her version of ‘Gee’ will sound, many fans and netizens are curious. This episode is set to air on 6th May.

[NEWS] Younha Reaffirms That She Did Not Undergo Plastic Surgery

YounHa says it again: No, she has not undergone plastic surgery. The Korean beauty took the opportunity at a media event recently to clarify matters after tongues started wagging.

It all started after gorgeous pictures of her appeared on the Internet and it did seem like she had some work done.

She has previously vehemently denied having undergone any plastic surgery in the past. As for the Internet pictures, she admitted that some “changes and adjustments” were made.

[NEWS] YounHa, “I Didn’t Go for Plastic Surgery. We Just Made Amendments to the Photos”

YounHa speaks up about criticisms that had arose saying that she had undergone plastic surgery.

YounHa was on KBS Star Golden Bell on 18th April where she said, “After photos of me appeared on the internet, many people had called me and asked ‘How much exactly did you pay for it (plastic surgery)?’. I didn’t undergo plastic surgery but we did made some changes and adjustments to my photos.”

“I just wanted my photos to turn out pretty, hence with this truth broadcasted, I think many people will be disappointed with the ‘fake’ makeover. Even when I look at the photos, I also thought I looked like a different person.”

MC Ji Seok Jin also said, “When I saw the photos I thought they were pretty and I was full of anticipation, but now that I look at her face, she looks the same from before.”

Known as ‘Oricon Comet’ YounHa will comeback with a 3rd album ‘Part. A Peace Love & Ice cream’ on 16th April.

For this album, YounHa will be bringing us some acoustic pop, modern rock and ballad which she is popular for.

She previously released her 2nd album ‘Someday’ last August, and this is her comeback after 8 months. These few months, she has been busy running between Japan and Korea for her promotions of Japanese movie ‘This Sunday’ and also recording for her new album.

[NEWS] Younha’s Japanese Debut Movie Out in Spring

Japanese film “On This Sunday” starring Korean piano rock singer Yun-ha will be released this spring. Yun-ha has posted comments and photos about the film on her personal homepage last Sunday. Her posting said that the movie poster has been issued and asked her fans to come and see the movie.

Yun-ha’s representative said in a phone interview with an entertainment news company that the Japanese film release date has been set in spring, but nothing has been confirmed about the film opening in Korea. Yun-ha is expected to work in Japan while the film is showing in Japanese theaters.

“On This Sunday” is about a Korean college student named Sora studying in Japan. The film follows how Sora meets up with a mystery guy working in various jobs and all the happenings that ensue after their encounter. Although Yun-has has appeared in a short film titled “The Day an Angel Came Down to Earth” in 2005, “On This Sunday” is her first starring role and thus considered her debut film.
