[NEWS] Won Bin and FT Island JongHyun at Kyunggi University Admission

Oh Wonbin, who left the band FT Island stated that he was willing to work as a singer again.

On the 2nd, at the school orientation ceremony at Suwon Campus in Kyunggi University, Oh Wonbin said that he would “practice and come back” and to “please wait.”

Oh Wonbin was accepted into the class of 2009 of the Kyunggi University School of Art. On that day, Oh Wonbin, who had a nervous and excited expression, attended the orientation ceremony with his friend.

Oh Wonbin and Choi Jonghoon, who were once both FT Island members together, met and chatted with each other and showed a kind and friendly affection towards each other. Choi Jonghoon, like Oh Wonbin, also got accepted into the department of electronics digital music.

Meanwhile, FT Island (Lee Hongki, Lee Jaejin, Choi Minhwan, Choi Jonghoon, Song Seunghyun), who just gained the new member, Song Seunghyun, are reorganizing and in activity performing their rock ballad song, “Bad Woman,” with the flowing melody and the deep and sad tone of vocal Lee Hongki.

[NEWS] FT Island Song SeungHyun Wants to be Big Bang’s Daesung

The new FT Island Member admits to wanting to have Big Bang Dae Sung’s role on Family Outing.

Song Seung Hyun said that “I have a lot of interest in variety programs. If I get the chance, I want to go on Family Outing. I really want Daesung‘s character because it is so charming. I want to be able to make people laugh with funny actions that don’t really match my style and appearance”

Seung Hyun is said to have a unique personality. FT Island members spoke up that “Seung Hyun speaks and thinks differently than normal people. It’s really peculiar and funny. For example, when we tickle him, he makes these weird sounds. He named these sounds ‘Sound Attack’.”

[NEWS] FT Island Song Seung Hyun, “Being WonBin’s Replacement, I Have More Than 2000 Anti-fans”

Group FT Island new member Song Seung Hyun talks about his joining the group.

Song has been training under the same company as FT Island for 3 years. And he talks about some of the paings of joining the group, “I was really excited about it. Since my trainee days, I had little fans. But after joining FT Island as Oh WonBin’s replacement, my anti-fans got up to 2000 members. Right now, the numbers are increasing, and we are expecting the anti-fans to exceed 3000.”

“The other hyungs had debuted before me, and if I make any mistakes on stage I feel that I am doing bad to my hyungs. So for my first performance, I thought it will be the end of me if I make any mistakes. I have confidence in rapping. I’ve also learnt piano for 7 years. Now that everyone knows that I am part of FT Island, I hope that everyone will remember my name when they hear FT Island’s name.”

[NEWS] FT Island Choi Jung Hoon, “HongKi Has a Look of a Commoner”

FT Island Choi Jung Hoon said on KBS ‘Star Golden Bell’ on 21st February about fellow member Lee Hong Ki, “He has the vocal and the face that will attract the first attention in the group. For me, I can play the guitar, keyboard and I also have the face in the group.”

He went on to talk about the difference between himself and Lee HongKi, “He has the cute image while I have the tough look. Lee HongKi’s face is one you can find 10 similar ones in a class, he has the face of a commoner.”

Meanwhile, member Lee JaeJin also said, “I wished I have the looks too but I only get to introduce the album” and Choi Min Hwan, “I have the image of a cute maknae (youngest).”

While new member Song Seung Hyun said, “I have the height and the looks too. If HongKi is not feeling well, I will take over his position as the second vocal.”

Lee Hongki also talked about the new member in this episode, “Song Seung Hyun is like a 4-dimensional nuclear bomb. You just don’t know what he is going to say next.”

[NEWS] Season for Idol Star Graduations

Once again, it’s the season for idol stars’ graduation.

So Nyeo Shi Dae YoonA attended her graduation ceremony on 11th February in DaeYeong High while fellow member SooYoung had to skipped hers, which is also on 11th February, due to her schedule.

Meanwhile, FT Island member Choi Jung Hoon had also graduated on 11th February from high school but had not been able to attend his graduation ceremony as they are currently busy preparing for their Japanese activities.

Fellow member Lee Hong Ki, however, got to attend his high school graduation cereony on 5th February.

Davichi’s Kang Min Kyung graduated from SaeHwa Female High school on 10th February.

And singer Joo will also graduate from Korea Arts High on 12th February.

[NEWS] Oh WonBin Teared as he Said Goodbye During Last Appearance as FT Island

Oh Won Bin, who left the group FT Island last month, had his last appearance on stage as part of FT Island for the last time.

FT Island had their ‘FT Island Mini Live & Fan meeting 2009 – The One’ in Tokyo Shinagawa Hotel on the 10th.

The members had a mini live performances of 7 songs including ‘Soyogi’. And member Choi Min Hwan who is in the midst of  filming a drama couldn’t be present but he sent his encouragements through a video recording.

And maknae Lee Jae Jin had spoken in Japanese on behalf of Oh Won Bin, “Oh Won Bin has decided to left our team after our Busan concert. We have a new member and we are in the midst of working on a new album.”

“With whatever road that WonBin will choose ahead, and also FT Island moving ahead with our new member – we hope that everyone will continue to support WonBin and FT Island.”

And Oh WonBin did a solo stage on the song ‘A Song For You’.

After the song ended, WonBin had kept his head low and encouragements like ‘Don’t cry’ and ‘Hwaiting WonBin’ can be heard from fans. Some of the fans had also teared at the scene.

Oh WonBin said, “I’m so sorry. I am so sorry for not being able to be with my FT Island members and with you fans.”

“But today, I had wanted to see you ‘Primadonna’ so I came to Japan with FT Island. This is my decision after I had thought through a lot and after having to talked through it with other members. There has been rumours that my relationship with the new member being on bad terms, but they are not true.”

Hardly trying to talk through his tears, Oh WonBin said, “Lastly, I want to perform a song that I really like.” And he performed ‘Ma Joong’ from FT Island’s debut album ‘Cheerful Sensibility’. After which, the other members had also went on to the stage and they performed ‘The One’.

Leader Choi Jung Hoon was also caught tearing during the fan meeting.

Meanwhile, FT Island will release a new minialbum ‘Jump Up’.

[NEWS] Wonbin to Meet Japanese Primadonnas for the Last Time

It’s been confirmed that Wonbin, despite being officialy out of FT Island last 28 January 2009, will be participating in the FT Island’s Japan events this coming Valentine period, for the last time.

The Japan activities, which will last from 10-14 February 2009, are to mark the release of FT Island’s 1st Live in Tokyo 2007 Concert DVD on 11 Feb 2009.

Wonbin will participate especially in the Stellar Ball in Sinagawa Hotel on 10 Feb 2009, organized by Primadonna Japan fanclub. This will be Wonbin’s last FT Island event.

[NEWS] FT Island, Brought Forward Online Release Date of their New Song to Prevent Illegal Downloads

5 member band, FT Island has brought forward their online release date of their new song to prevent illegal downloads.

FT Island’s management company, F&C Music, revealed on the 10th, ” Since the release of their title song MV “Bad Woman” on the 9th, many illegal song downloads were found in minihompies, blogs, etc. In order to stop the illegal downloads of their song, we have decided to bring forward the online release of the title song mp3 to 13th February.”

FT Island’s management company initially planned to release their mini album online and for sale on the same day – 17th February.

Their management company said, “We have already had a bad experience last year when their 2nd album was released. Therefore, we are even more worried this time. We didnt know that the release of the music video will again create such illegal download problems. We will put in more efforts to prevent such things from happening in future.”

FT Island’s new mini album will include a total of 6 songs, including title song “Bad Woman”. It will be released officially on 13th February.

On the other hand, new member, Song Seunghyun, wil join FT Island in their comeback promotions, starting 15th February on SBS Inkigayo.

[NEWS] FT Island Shoots New Music Video

Seo Hyo Rim and FT Island member Choi Min Hwan act as lovers in FTI’s new music video.

FT Island shot for their next music video on February 2 in GyeongGi-do Namyangdu Cubic Set with their new member Song Seung Hyun after Oh Won Bin left the group a couple days ago.

FT Island has announced their comeback will be in mid-February with the release of a mini album.

[NEWS] New FT Island Member Confirmed

After news of 5-member idol band FT Island guitarist Oh WonBin leaving the group, a new member has been found for the group to make 5 members – trainee Song Seung Hyun (18).

Following F&C Music on 29th January, new member Song Seung Hyun will join the group as guitarist and sub-vocal (including rap). Song Seung Hyun is also a flower-boy like the rest of the FT Island member with the height of 180 cm and weight 60kg.

FT Island will take on the image of the boyband of teenagers with the new member and comeback with a minialbum mid-February.

[NEWS] WonBin Leaves FT Island

FT Island member Oh WonBin (19) has left the group on the grounds of reason that he has differing music views as the group.

FT Island’s company said on 28th January, “WonBin, who played the guitar on the team, has left the team. It was a hard decision for WonBin too.”

Meanwhile, FT Island will look for a new member and they will release a new minialbum in mid-February.

[NEWS] TVXQ is “1st Idol Award” Winner!

The SportsChoSun.net “1st Idol Award” final winner is TVXQ.

First place, with 55,899 votes (36.5 percent) went to TVXQ and they got 28% of the vote from the ChoSun Ilbo reporters. They recieved the highest score for their final score 33.1 points out of all the other Idol candidates.

Big Bang received 40,792 votes (26.6%) making them 2nd, but they recieved a total of 31% votes from the reporters, taking the lead against TVXQ. Their final score, however, was 28.4 points, placing them at finally number 2.

Super Junior (17.8) Wonder Girls (5.0) FT Island (4.3) SS501 (3.7) SNSD (3.2) SHINEE (1.9) 2PM (1.4) and 2AM (1.3) follows.

Since January 6th for the past two weeks until the voting deadline the poll for the “1st Idol Award” had traffic congestion on the homepage and was down several times, showing that it obtained an explosive response from the fans. The fierce voting between the two leading bands TVXQ and Big Bang’s fans in particular was a heated competition.

Of our time the Idol group covers ‘Idol Award’ popular vote and ChoSun reporters vote. The popular vote was conducted on 10 bands amounting to 60% and from the ChoSun Ilbo reporters 40% combining the two for the final score will indicate the winner.

[NEWS] Seoul Music Awards, A Fierce Battle for the Lead in Mobile Votes

The 18th High Seoul Music Awards ceremony will unfold on the 12th of next month at Gangwon-do Taebaek-si’s Gowon Auditorium and balance the books once and for all on 2008’s music industry.

Voting for the event—which will be sponsored by SportsSeoul and hosted by High1 Resort—already began on January 8th and will continue until the 11th of next month on the Seoul Music Award website (seoul.incomms.co.kr). Though it is just one part of the process for selecting winners, mobile voting will reflect 20% of the final standards used to determine the recipients of the ‘Seoul Music Award’ (of which there will be ten), the ‘Newcomer Award, and the ‘Mobile Popularity Award’. Additional criteria for judging winners will include digital music sales, popular research conducted by the firm, and an evaluation by the judging board.

There are 31 nominees in contention for a ‘Seoul Music Award’, 10 nominees up for the ‘Newcomer Award’, and 41 nominees for the ‘Mobile Popularity Award. There is fierce competition taking place in each of categories.

First off, the nominees for the ‘Seoul Music Awards’ include top stars who were the most outstanding participants in the music industry in 2008. Nominees include:
– TVXQ, who recorded the highest in album sales after the release of their 4th album ‘Mirotic’ last September.
– Big Bang, winners of the top award at the 17th Seoul Music Awards. 
– Wonder Girls, of <Tell Me> fame, who also had consecutive hits last year with <So Hot> and <Nobody>.
– Kim JongKook, who had a successful comeback after his return from military service through his hit <Today More Than Yesterday>.
– Baek JiYoung, who proved, once again, that she was deserving of the title ‘Ballad Queen’ after charting a big hit with her sorrowful ballad <Like Being Hit By a Bullet>.
– Lee HyoRi, who showcased both her sexy and easy-going charms simultaneously with <U-Go-Girl>.
Other stars in line for the honor included: Son DamBi with <Crazy>, MC Mong with <Circus>, Brown Eyed Girlswith <How Come>, and Tei with <Story Like a Miracle>.

When it comes to mobile voting in general, there are a number of groups fighting over the ranks.
– TVXQ, with the support of their powerful fan-club.
– FT Island, who received love for their song <After Love>.
– Big Bang, who had consecutive hits with <Red Sunset> and <Day After Day>.
However, TVXQ, FT Island, Big Bang, SHINee, and the Wonder Girls, are all contenders for the ‘Mobile Popularity Award’ with each of the teams leading or trailing at any given time.

There are more sparks flying right now in the contest for the ‘Newcomer Award’ category than in any previous year. 
– SHINee, who quickly rose to the popularity after receiving attention through <Nuna’s So Pretty>, <Love Like Oxygen>, and <Amigo>. 
– 2PM and 2AM, both protégés of JYP and company.
– Davichi, the female group who made hits of <Hate You But I Love You> and <Love and War>.
– Mighty Mouth, the male duo who managed to stand out through their cheerful melodies and featurings.
Also listed among the nominees were JOO with <Because of a Man> and IU with <Mia>.

Meanwhile, there is also an event being held for fans participating in the mobile voting. 5 winners will receive the opportunity to represent fans by presenting the winning artists with flowers onstage and attending the awards ceremony. 25 winners will get the chance to attend the rehearsal for the event.

The 18th Seoul Music Awards will be broadcast live on cable channel YTN STAR on February 12 from 5PM-8PM.
