BoA’s American Debut To Be Delayed

BoA’s U.S debut has been delayed. Her debut single “Eat You Up” was supposed to have been released today but has been pushed back to 21st October instead. According to SM Entertainment today, the delay is for better coordination and collaboration with planned promotional activities .

Although the debut single release has been held up for two weeks, the areas where it is going to be released in has been expanded drastically than originally planned. Besides being released on all major American music websites and ringtone download websites, it will be out on the same day in more than 30 over countries in the world. According to SM Entertainment, BoA’s debut single “Eat You Up” will not only be released in America on iTunes, Amazon, AOL, Emusic, MySpace, etc. It will also be released via iTunes Store、mora, mu-mo, dwango.jp in Japan, in Thailand via Sanook Online, Click Internet, etc, in China via sina.com, China mobile, etc plus many other avenues.

HongKi (FT Island) Casted for Leading Role in Master of Study

F.T. Island’s Lee Hong Gi has been casted for SBS “Master of Study” idol drama scheduled for broadcast in the Mon-Tue timeslot after the conclusion of “Tazza” expected in December. This is SBS’s answer to KBS idol drama “Boys over Flowers” scheduled for broadcast in end December. Exactly how will the idols fare against the incumbent star-studded “East of Eden” remains to be seen.

According to one production staff from “Master of Study” today, they are now discussing over the final details with Lee Hong Gi over his involvement. Other cast members will be announced in the next couple of days. Lee Hong Gi’s involvement is more or less confirmed with details to be ironed out.

“Master of Study” is adapted from a popular Japanese manga “Dragon Zakura” and talks of how students with the worst grades gets into Seoul University and their study process. Filming will begin at the end of this month with a broadcast date of 1st December if everything goes as scheduled.

Kōhaku Uta Gassen (紅白歌合戦) more commonly known as simply Kōhaku, is an annual music show on the New Year’s Eve produced by Japanese public broadcaster NHK and broadcast on both television and radio, nationally and internationally by NHK’s networks and some overseas (mainly cable) broadcasters which bought the program. The show ends shortly before midnight (when NHK switches to a frenzy of “Happy New Year” greetings from around the nation). Literally “Red and White Song Battle,” the program divides the most popular music artists of the year into competing teams of red and white. The “red” team or akagumi (赤組紅組)is composed of all female artists (or groups with female vocals), while the “white” team or shirogumi (白組)is all male (or groups with male vocals).

The honor of performing on Kōhaku is strictly by invitation, so only the most successful J-Pop artists and enka singers can perform. In addition to the actual music performances, the costumes, hair-styles, makeup, dancing, and lighting are also important. Even today, a performance on Kōhaku is said to be a big highlight in a singer’s career because of the show’s large reach.
