Four-member group 2NE1’s main vocalist Park Bom, debuted in her first solo stage on SBS Inkigayo today, Sunday, November 8, 2009.
The anticipated solo broadcast of Park Bom’s single, “You and I” showed brilliant singing and dancing skills.
The song, which was released some days ago, showed much promised and sparked a lot of interest, even garnering its own CD on its day of release. It even topped a few online charts a few days after its release and got very favorable responses from the netizens.
YG Entertainment said of Park Bom’s solo activities that, “2NE1’s studio album and performances is on-going and no special promotional activities are planned for the group,” meaning that Bom’s solo activities would stand in lieu of the group’s absence on stage.
YG Entertainment’s last solo single release, Park Dara’s “Kiss” also moved to the top of the charts, even with the lack of promotional activities on TV performances. But Park Bom’s case will not go the same route.
“Because of 2NE1’s lack of activities, it was good timing, since the somewhat less harried preparation of the studio album would make solo activities possible. Because “Lollipop,” “Fire,” and “I Don’t Care” received so much love, the solo album would showcase songs that will be prepared as title tracks. All the songs have very intense preparations, so the solo album would not be rushed.”
In addition to Bom’s first stage, SHINEE and Super Junior, both consecutively ranking as number one in the past two weeks, also performed their songs.
