For celebrities, creating an image for themselves is crucial in order to attract popularity. With DBSK’s “evolving idol”, and 2PM’s “tough idol”, they were able to gain more attention.
For girl groups however, there aren’t many themes that can be suitable. Ordinarily, girl groups usually create a ‘fairy’ image, enough not to even use the restroom in public. In other cases, by instilling their female charms, create an ‘ideal girlfriend’ image for male fans.
Slipping away from this unwritten rule and creating a unique image for themselves was ‘Kara’
Awhile ago, as Kara revealed their dorms, they received the ‘common worker’ image. Compared with other female groups from the three big companies, SM-JYP-YG, their dorms gave off a more plain feel.
DSP entertainment, who gave rise to top idol groups such as Fin K.L and Sechs Kies, may not approve of Kara’s ‘common worker’ image. However, the actual results showed that this image gave them uniqueness and individuality from within the girl group market.
